Saturday 5th December sees the re-re-return of the fantastic Wigan Comiccon, to Robin Park, Wigan.
Previous Comiccons, arranged by Paul Prescott, have been amazing events with retailers selling everything from rare comics and signed photos, to customised prop replicas and retro games consoles. For a geek like me, it was heaven! There were also many celebrities there to meet, get photos with and chat to. Last time I met and got myself photos signed by Davros, played by Terry Molloy, and Superman actress Ursa, played by Sarah Douglas.
This year, as ever, will be no exception. There will be the same huge selection of collectibles for people to browse and buy, and a range of celebrity guests to have photos taken with and to get autographs from.
There is also a Cosplay event where people can dress up as their favourite characters and take part in competitions to find the best dressed Cosplayer. Celebrity guests this time include Norman Lovett (Holly from Red Dwarf) and John Challis (Boycie from Only Fools and Horses.)
As if that wasn’t enough, there is also a Free to Play Retro Gaming Area with consoles and computers from the 80s and 90s. (I think this alone is worth the entry price!)
Tickets are on sale online from here -> Wigan Comiccon Website …Or from the Funky Figures shop itself in Wigan town centre.
You will also be able to pay on the door, although priority entry will be given to people who have pre-bought tickets, so if you pay on the door you will only be allowed in later on.
For more details of the event, check out the Wigan Comiccon Facebook Group.
Paul Prescott, the man who introduced Comiccons to Wigan and Bolton, owns and runs the Funky Figures shop in Wigan town centre. Funky Figures specialises in collectibles, comics and rare toys.
