Every Christmas my mother, her sister and brother would each hold a family party.
As a child both myself and my sister would dance away the night to 80’s music played by my older brothers or cousins. My brother’s music would consist of whatever had made it to No.1 in the charts as he would buy a 7inch every Saturday at our local music store Hummingbirds.
My cousin would play anything that had a synth in it, as he owned a number of keyboards from Casio to Korg. There would also be a number of very cheesy songs such as those from Black Lace and the Birdie song!
I think being a child in the 80’s has left me with very fond memories of the period, whether it be the music or the films of that time, I am always left thinking things were better then.
A vast majority of my music collection is from the 80’s and I believe the decade gets a raw deal compared to others, I guess the late 80’s haven’t really stood the test of time and this has probably influenced things. When you consider true music legends, a number came to the fore in the 80’s.
