Bolton Comic Con – 1st March

spideyComic Cons are commonplace all over America, but a relatively new idea over here in the UK. They are events where normal folk like us can go and indulge our nerdy sides, buy collectables, maybe take part in cosplay and get our photos taken with lookalikes. People go to meet fellow collectors, but also to meet celebrities from TV, films and the comic world.

In early 2014, Paul Prescott arranged the first ever Wigan Comic Con. The event was a huge success and a follow-up Comic Con was held just 6 months later.

This year, Paul has decided to widen his Comic Con empire and hold one in Bolton, at the Macron Stadium (formerly the Reebok Stadium) at Middlebrook in Bolton. Tickets are now on sale for just £9.00 online from the Funky Figures website and from the Funky Figures shop in Wigan.

Along with the usual signings with celebrities, comic book trade, collectors areas and cosplay, this sees the first time that Retro Computer Museum have been invited to share their collection of old computers and consoles. Now I, for one, am a HUGE fan of retro computers and retro gaming, so I don’t mind admitting I’m more than a little giddy at the prospect of spending the day gaming!
