This coming weekend one of my online friends, and fellow 80s music lover, DJ Monkeyboy is hosting a 48 hour radio marathon to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. I’ll let DJ Monkeyboy do a bit of explaining:
During the weekend of Friday, 20 September 2013 to Sunday, 22 September 2013, I’ll be depriving myself and others of sleep by performing a live DJ broadcasting marathon on MintFM, simalcasting on HKC Radio.
The event will start with The 2013 DJ marathon Launch Party at 9 PM UK time on Friday, 20 September, and will conclude with a special edition of The School Playground starting at 6 PM UK time on Sunday, 22 September.
The 2012 DJ Marathon was 42 hours long with a couple of breaks to get a few hours sleep. You can hear the whole of the 2012 DJ Marathon by clicking here. The 2013 DJ marathon will be 48 hours long and will be non-stop.
My goal is to raise in excess of £10,000 over the next 3 years via my Just Giving page, with all money raised going to Macmillan Cancer Support.
If you’d like to take part in some way, please sign up using the registration form telling me what you have in mind.
Obviously the whole 48 hour event is free to tune in to, but if you want to help play a part and select a 30 minute playlist, you can! All the details on helping out are here: Sponsor a Playlist
There are also a few chances to win prizes over the weekend. If you predict how many different songs will be played, or how many times DJ Monkeyboy messes things up on air, (both of which are likely to be quite big numbers!) you could win things. Again, all the details are here: Win things!
