Beware The Spider!

This was a game which worked in a very similar to Operation, in that you had to remove plastic things from a metal area using metal prongs. However there was one huge difference between Operation and Beware The Spider.

In Operation, if you touched the metal, the poor guys nose lit up and he buzzed. With Beware The Spider, if you touched the metal, you were pounced at by a massive spider. The buzzing nose of Operation would cause much hilarity amongst players, usually children of various ages, whereas having a spider leap onto a childs hand would often cause fainting and trips to the hospital for tetanus shots.

(OK, I’m lying about that last bit.)

It was such a scary game that, when my friends brought one in for Toy Day, I often opted out of playing it.

The TV Advert featured the lovely jingle, Beware the Spider, Where’s is going to land? Big fat hairy thing, Sitting in your hand!

Fills me with fear whenever I think about it!
