Remember those temporary tattoos you could get from vending machines in the 80s? I had arms full of them all throughout my school summer holidays. I was also a huge fan of trading cards, collecting everything from the Pac-Man trading cards with scratch-off games, Dragons Lair trading cards with “How To” room helps on the back, Garbage Pail Kids… I must have spent thousands!
Well temporary tattoos AND trading cards could be making a comeback thanks to a new venture, Tattoo Club.
Jess and a few friends are launching a new range; collectible packs of limited edition tattoos.
I, for one, am quite giddy about it! Jess explains more;
Ah, summer. Reminds me of the good old days, growing up with high-tops and jelly shoes, trading cards and bubble gum, cartoons and chocolate milk…There’s still plenty of that summer magic left in the world, even if only a few of us know about it.
We decided to put some of that magic to the test to help us with something that’s been on our minds. We love temporary tattoos and wondered: what is the next step? What is the future of temporary tattoos? Surely they aren’t destined to live a life of outdated, cliche clip-art, resting in 50 cent vending machines! We did what any left-minded illustrator would do and started a club. Tattoo Club. Our goal? To make temporary tattoos the new trading card.
As illustrators, we thought that the only way a “trading card tattoo” could get any better was if it had incredible, original artwork from some of our favorite creators. And what if we printed them on several cards, and made limited-edition, collectible packs? Yes! Now we’re talkin’!
After all this thinking, Tattoo Club is on the move! We’ve been rounding up some of our favorite creators to make all-new artwork for our first pack of tattoos–we’re calling it our Monster Pack, since every tattoo is going to be a monster or monster-related. We’ll be releasing the Monster Pack via Kickstarter on Friday the 13th (July)!
rary tattoos.
So on Friday 13th July, keep an eye out for the new Monster Packs of temporary tattoos from Tattoo Club.
