Downfall was advertised as though it was a safe-cracking game. It was a two player game where players sat opposite each other.
It was a verical board game in which you had to maneuver small coloured discs down from the top to the bottom of a board using 5 turnable dials with a few gaps in each. They looked a bit like the number locks on safes. Each of the dials was two sided, meaning that if you turned a dial on your side it also turned on your opponents side too. Although you were maneuvering your discs down you may also be inadvertently assisting your opponent.
I liked Downfall because, as with all the two player games where you can’t see your opponents side, it had that element of secrecy. Neither player knew how far their opponent was from winning until your opponent heard the inevitable click as your final disc fell out, they let out their winning yell, punched the air and commenced the winners taunt.
